How to HANDLE HEAT IN VACATION RENTALS without CENTRAL AIR and Fun in Boone in HIGH HEAT OR RAIN.

On our most recent trip we went up to do a couple of days of Cabin maintenance so we would be ready for my daughter, Son in law and grandson to come up. Last week was the HEAT DOME and if you do not live in the mountains you may not realize that so many of the homes up there do not have Air Conditioning if they are not in a rental program. We just updated our window unit to a stronger one. Here is a tip though! Turn on the window unit, then go to the wall thermostat for the heater and turn on the FAN only mode. This will take the room air and distribute through the ducts to the rest of the house. It may take HOURS to cool a house down but this will make sleeping so much better. Had we not turned on the FAN we would have been miserable. I now watch the temps during the summer and alert my customers. We have owned our cabin since 2013 and only used the window unit MAYBE THREE TIMES … including last week. It is rarely needed as our cabin is up 4100 feet as opposed to being down in the heart of Boone or Deep Gap which is lower elevation.

Boone Fun with kids in the rain or extreme heat : Foggy Mountain Gem Mine, Mystery Hill, Alpine Coaster, Mast Farm Original Store, Thrift/Vintage shopping. YES THRIFT/VINTAGE — help them look for their favorite cartoon characters, books or book series, favorite coins, games etc. So many of these places have people that have a KIDS NICHE that you can make a sort of game out of them finding the booth or booths with their items in it. Some places are really mixed in so its really a search high and low.

Here is another tip… Have you ever looked on AIRBNB or VRBO and noticed the cabin name? It may have been in the description or maybe it was on the kitchen photo showing a refrigerator magnet with the VACATION RENTALS name on it… Guess what? The owner is trying to tell you to GOOGLE THEIR NAME to find different ways to book their cabin so you can save money OR AT LEAST COMPARE prices.
